FAQ

Q) How long does it take for BaseGel to gel?:
A) BaseGel will begin to activate and absorb water within 2-3 minutes and will create a firm, stable gel within 3-5 minutes.

Q) Does BaseGel expand (or overflow) when it is added to water?
A) No, BaseGel will never exceed the volume of water it is added to.

Q) Can BaseGel be added to existing water-filled portable bases?
A) Yes, Simply pour ½ (half) of the baseGel into the portable base opening. Wait about 1 minute and add the remaining BaseGel into the base. BaseGel will move throughout the portable base as it absorbs the available water.

Q) Will the BaseGel & Water gel be affected by freezing temperatures?
A) The BaseGel/water gel will freeze at temperatures below 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) and will return to a firm, stable gel as temperatures rise above 32 degrees F. BaseGel’s performance will not be affected by repeated freeze-thaw cycles and will last up to 7 years. (Please follow the portable base manufacture’s recommendations for the maximum water to add to the base)

Q) How much BaseGel should I add to my portable basketball goal base?
A) Portable bases vary in size from 25 gallon to 40 gallon capacity. One 16 oz bottle of BaseGel absorbs more than 40 gallons of water. A full bottle per portable base is recommended to prevent calculation errors. One ounce (weight) of BaseGel per 2.5 gallons of water may be used, at at minimum, if less than a full bottle is required (ie. 10 ounces per 25 gallon base, 14 ounces per 35 gallon base)

Q) How much do I add to an umbrella stand or ballast base that is smaller than 25 gallons?
A) It is recommended that a minimum of 3 tea spoons of BaseGel is added for each gallon of water, so as an example, a 4 gallon umbrella stand would need 12 tea spoons of BaseGel to absorb the water and make a gel with a firm consistency. One bottle of BaseGel contains approxiamtely 120 tea spoons.

Q) How long will BaseGel last?
A) BaseGel will remain a firm gel for 7 years or more.

Q) How do I remove BaseGel from the portable base when I need to empty the base?
A) Simply make a table salt & water solution and pour it into the base on top of the BaseGel. Within minutes BaseGel will be deactivated and will return to a liquid that can be poured out of the base

Q) Can I refill the portable base with water and BaseGel after I have used a salt & water solution?
A) Yes…flush the portable base with water thoroughly before filling with water and adding BaseGel

Q) Is BaseGel environmentally friendly?
A) Yes, BaseGel is non-hazardous and will not harm the environment. BaseGel can be rinsed into a storm drain after use. BaseGel will also not damage plants or aquatic life.

Q) Will the BaseGel evaporate in the portable basketball goal base?
A) BaseGel resists evaporation and will not lose weight or volume under normal circumstances (portable bases are closed systems). BaseGel is also formulated to minimize gel loss should a minor crack develop in the portable base. All portable basketball goal manufacturers recommend inspection of the base for cracks and leaks and checking the water level in the base before each use. If the BasesGel level has dropped minimally add more water to the base. If the BaseGel level has dropped substantially follow the portable basketball goal manufacturer's recommendations for repair or replacement.
